Free Things to do

You may think that everything is bigger in Texas and in general that is true, but did you know that you can actually get by without spending a lot of money? There are a ton of different places you can go and all of them are free and that is what we are going to talk about next.

One of the most important places to visit is the Texas State Capitol. It is actually located right on 11th street and the capitol is more than a century old, as it was completed in 1888. There is also the House Chamber and the Legislative Chambers, some of which hold rooms that you need to see, for they are breathtakingly beautiful. You can actually get a walking tour of all of this for free every day but Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, because of the tourists.

If you love nature, you definitely want to check out Mount Bonnell, which is actually the highest park in the city and it is considered the most historic as well. It is located right in the northwest side in Austin Highland Park neighborhood. The place is open to the public free every single day from 5:00am until 10:00pm.

Finally, the Zilker Botanical Garden is the next place you want to go, this is a garden that holds everything from herbs, butterflies, fragrance, roses and everything else to make a beautiful and sweet-smelling garden!
